SELFCARE SATURDAY – 7 Oral Care Tips for Diabetes Patients…!!
Hi everyone,
I’m Dr. B Jagadish, a diabetes wellbeing coach, and today we’re going to be talking about diabetes and oral care.
First, let’s talk about why oral care is important for people with diabetes. People with diabetes are at a higher risk for oral health problems, such as gum disease, because high blood sugar levels can affect the body’s ability to fight infection. Gum disease can also make it harder to control blood sugar levels.
So, how can we take care of our oral health if we have diabetes? Here are a few tips:
Brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
Floss daily to remove plaque and food particles from between your teeth.
Use mouthwash to kill bacteria and freshen your breath.
Visit your dentist regularly for cleanings and check-ups.
If you have dentures, make sure to clean them daily and take them out at night.
Avoid smoking and tobacco use, as they can increase your risk for oral health problems.
Drink plenty of water to help rinse away bacteria and food particles.
By following these simple steps, you can help keep your mouth healthy and reduce your risk for oral health problems. If you have any questions about oral care and diabetes, feel free to ask me in the comments.
Thanks for reading , and I hope you found this information helpful. Remember to take care of your oral health as a part of managing your diabetes.
Take care,
